I Can Only Say This Here

In 2019, I began a complementary cultural project to accompany the visual work of Home and Other Reflections. Capturing the voices of others, I Can Only Say This Here takes shape as a website that invites individuals with a story about special needs to submit that narrative anonymously. The impetus for this project was the moving stories I read daily in the private social networks for parents and families of individuals with autism. These valuable private social networks are safe places where parents can share both the struggles of the day and the tiny moments of success that bring us joy. To keep these stories private continues to isolate parents of children with autism from parents of neuro-typical children, and limits understanding, empathy, and education of those outside this group. If parents stay isolated, we keep our children isolated with us. In 2021, my goal is to develop I Can Only Say This Here as a podcast, with the intent of securing a national broadcast platform.

Visit I Can Only Say This Here and share a story with the world.
